BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Argentine soccer national team has more triumphs than Paraguayan team in the records of the matches played between both teams, local sports press said on Tuesday.
Argentina has won 50 times over Paraguay, they tied 29 times and it was defeated 14 times. However Argentina has not won a match in Asuncion (capital of Paraguay) since July 6, 1997, when they won 2-1 with goals scored by Marcelo Gallardo and Juan Sebastian Veron.
During the South American eliminatory matches for World Cup South Africa 2010, Argentina has won four matches, tied eight and lost one.
During the 93 matches played between Argentina and Paraguay, Argentina has scored 191 goals, while Paraguay scored 96.
During the matches between both team played in Asuncion, Argentina has won 15 matches and scored 54 goals, while Paraguay won 11 matches and scored 45 goal. They tied 11 matches.
However, during eliminatory matches, Paraguay has won only once against Argentina during the eliminatory for the World Cup Germany 2006, in a match played on Sept. 3, 2005, with a goal scored by Roque Santa Cruz.
