RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of the Fluminense soccer team, Cuca, blamed his team's 5-1 loss on Sunday to Gremio on bad luck.
The coach did not blame his players or any lack of ability, rather he declared that nothing went in favor of his team.
Fluminense fullback Cassio led to two of Gremio's goals on Sunday. On one occasion he slipped and let the striker pass by, resulting in a goal. Later, the fullback accidentally scored a goal against his own goal. Nevertheless, Cuca placed no fault on the player's performance.
"Unfortunately, Cassio scored a goal for Gremio and did not play all that well. But, it was not only his fault, it's all of ours. The player came into the locker room crying, but I told him that sometimes stuff like this happens. It's my fault. It's all our faults," confessed Cuca, who also said that everything went Gremio's way in the match.
Fluminense remains in 20th and last place with 18 points. The team has not won a match in ten games, being eight from the Brazilian Championship and two from the South American Cup.
Next week, Fluminense will host Avai in a must need situation. The team stands in serious danger of being lowered into the second division of next year's Brazilian Championship.
